Beta Program Notes and Updates

A Word on the BETA APIs

The beta versions of our new services display the breadth and depth of our flight status data. We want to show all the bells and whistles, so we expand all the codes, include every position, list all the uplines, and mention every codeshare. We’d include data on the lavatory sinks if we had it.

As such, the services currently return repetitive data and lots of it. At this time, we include minimal options for filtering, normalizing, linking, limiting, masking, etc. … the features you will use to tailor our services to your needs. We have a long list of features we want to implement, but first we’d like to hear what features you need most.

Some of our ideas:

  • Filtering and limits on various fields
  • Pre-formatted RESTful “deep links” to additional data (think RDF, but easier)
  • Normalized reference data (airlines, airports, etc.)
  • Response-specific data dictionary of reference data (for example, all airports)
  • Bundled upline and downline flights

Let us know what you need and we’ll build it.

In addition to new features in our flight status and flight tracks services, there are several new services in the works. Stay tuned!
