Getting Started: Setting Up an Evaluation Account
Getting started is pretty simple. Just follow these steps to create an account, create an application, and get the application ID and API key you need to authenticate your queries.
1. Sign up
Register for an account.
You will receive an email with a link to confirm your account. You must access the URL in the email to activate your account. This will take you to the Sign In page.
2. Sign In
Once you've registered and signed in, please note the two links at the top right of the Developer Center.
Dashboard allows you to manage your applications, view your messages, and view reports about your use of the APIs.
Account lets you manage details of your contact information.
3. Watch for an Approval Email
We'll review your request and will typically approve you for a free trial within one business day. The free trial is a 30-day evaluation period on the Flex Developer plan, which will allow you to exercise nearly all of the APIs within limits suitable for most development needs.
If you're ready to sign up for a paid plan, you can choose to sign up for the Flex Commercial plan at any time (even before your trial period has been approved).
3. Get your Application ID and Application Key.
When you sign up, a "Default" application will be created with an Application ID (App ID) and Application Key (App Key). These are the credentials you need to provide when making API calls.
To see your credentials, select Dashboard. You should see the Applications screen, with one Application named "Default." Click the View button next to this application. On this screen you'll see the Application ID automatically assigned to your application, and the application key. You will need both of these in order to make a successful API request.
Typically, Application IDs are 8-character strings, and Application Keys are 32-character strings.
If you're signed in when you view the Interactive Documentation in the Developer Center, the AppID and AppKey fields will prompt you to select from your available credentials.
4. Start Developing!
That's all you need to do to start using the Flex APIs.
